This was a new idea, but it has been followed by most caricaturists since then'. He married Marianna Conan, sister of Michael Conan, whom Arthur Conan Doyle visited in Paris on his was back from Boarding School in Austria. John and Marianna had 7 children (2 girls and 5 boys).
